Hallway and Landings at Kiwi Cottage

The inner front door, with its own Devon latch, leads to the hall with understairs nook and the cloakroom. A split window provides light in the loo, and a view from the hall into the Sun Room.

The stairs are reached either via the Sun Room or back through the kitchen to the hall, half the stairs are of open tread with nook beneath, and the upper half lined with a pine-type cladding.

The upstairs landing is cosy but spacious and the foam insulated ceilings keep the cottage warm in winter and cool in summer. The vaulted roof was formerly "open" with bare rafters; the rafters and lovely old beams have all been retained and two steel bands strengthen the whole structure of the cottage. The landing has more than enough room for the Z-bed if needed.
